Slovakia is located in central Europe bordering Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Hungary and Ukraine. The country is naturally stunning with numerous mountains, lakes, forests, lowlands and canyons. Almost half the country is covered by the Carpathian Arc which makes the country extremely mountainous; in particular the Tatras Mountains contain many resorts for holiday makers to enjoy. Slovakia is rich in mineral resources and several mineral springs can be found within the country. The main river in Slovakia is the Danube which connects the country’s capital Bratislava with Vienna and Budapest.

Nitra – The oldest city in Slovakia and the earliest political and cultural centre in the country.
Zilina – The largest city on the Vah river and an important industrial centre.

Climate

Temperate: Cool summers and cold, cloudy winters
