In winter temperatures fall below freezing point
in most parts of Canada. During the summer the
southern provinces often have high humidity levels
with temperatures up to 30 degrees, the rest of
Canada can experience some rain fall. |

Geography
Canada is located in Northern North America and bordering the
North Atlantic Ocean, North Pacific Ocean and the Arctic Ocean.
Canada is divided up into ten provinces and two territories. Canada
has a population of around 32 million people which is very small
compared to the size of the country. The Rocky Mountains is a very
popular tourist attraction, taking up a large part of western
Canada. Ontario contains Ottawa, the country's capital, and Quebec,
both of which are huge industrial areas with large populations.
Maritime provinces situated on the east coast are very reliant on
the Atlantic Ocean to maintain their fishing business to sustain a
living.
Government
Canada's government is a constitutional monarchy that is also a
parliamentary democracy and federation. Canada's parliament
consists of an elected house of commons and an appointed Senate.
The criminal law system which is based very much on the British law
system is under federal jurisdiction and justice is managed by the
federal, provincial, and municipal courts. Stephen Harper was
appointed Canada's twenty second prime minister on February 6th
2006, his aims are to spend more time protecting the environment
and health of Canadians, lowering taxes, fiscal discipline and
making safer communities by becoming tougher on crime. Stephan
Harper also aims to work with international associates on global
and mutual matters.
Language
Canada has two official languages, English with 61% of the
population speaking it and French with 22% of the country. 17% of
the country use another languages as their first spoken
language.

110-120 volts AC, 60Hz. American-style (flat) two-pin plugs are
standard
Passports/Visa
Passports are acceptable if they are valid at least one day
beyond the departure date. They are necessary for all
nationals except Canadian citizens holding a certificate of
identity (Birth certificate of Canadian citizenship certificate),
permanent residents of Canada who can show any documents to prove
this or citizens of the USA who can show a US birth certificate or
US naturalisation papers.
Visas
Some countries require a visa to visit or transit the country.
Others do not require a visa to visit Canada.

Standard of Living
Canada has been surveyed to be one of the top ten countries with
the highest standard of living. There are several jobs in Canada
which can earn a decent wage which effects how people live. Canada
is one of the richest countries in the world and a leading producer
of several minerals making it a wealthy country. Canada has been
described by many as a peaceful country to live in.
