Lying
along the Equator on Africa's Eastern coast, Kenya remains the most popular
adventure travel destination in Africa. It is one of the finest, and
undoubtedly the most famous safari destinations in the world. However, Safari
is by no means Kenya's only attraction. The charms of its tropical Indian Ocean
coast have drawn increasing numbers of package tourists for many years. There
also great cultural variety between Kenya's cities. A distinct Arabic influence
can be felt in Mombassa, whilst Nairobi remains much closer to its Swahili
roots.
Most property opportunities lie in the coastal region and within the Safari
Parks themselves. The purchase of game lodges is has been popular and still
possible and we have many residential and commercial opportunities in beach
areas such as Diani. There are parts of the country that remain best avoided.
Much of the North is subject to banditry and Nairobi is not known as
'Nairobberi' for nothing.
Despite this, Kenya is growing economically and in popularity, drawing
increasing numbers of visitors and businesses to its alluring beaches and
wildlife reserves. Within these areas of the country, opportunities for
property investors are available and probably easier to spot than Lion!
