Situated on the west coast of Africa, Angola
borders the Atlantic Ocean, Namibia, Zambia and the Congo.
Unfortunately associated with war and destruction, few are aware of
the country’s 1.650km white sand coastline, untouched wildlife
parks and raw natural beauty. Dogged by many physical reminders of
its civil war of independence, Angola is still recovering both
socially and economically. Formally brought to an end in 2002, the
27 year conflict left Angola one of the poorest countries in the
world.
The country’s economy is driven almost
entirely by the burgeoning oil industry, supported by gas
resources, hydroelectric production and diamond mines. Such
resources have helped redeem Angola’s fortunes turning it into the
second fastest growing economy in Africa and one of the fastest in
the world.
