All aboard the good ship Property Frontiers
September 10, 2012Article by Ray Withers
As some of you may know, when waxing lyrical about who we are here at Property Frontiers, I often use the analogy of a ship; chartering today’s choppy economic waters and steering the crew to investment success is a the very heart of the company.
But last Friday, the good ship Property Frontiers become no longer an analogy but reality as the team came together for the annual Summer Away Day – and what a great day it was!
Many were up at 5am to make it to Portsmouth Harbour in plenty of time from both our Oxford and London offices. On arriving at the marina we sat down to bacon and egg butties with a hum of excitement in the air before happily boarding the “Idea of London” – a racing yacht designed for an Italian billionaire.
Following an all-important safety briefing, we motored our way out of the marina into the Solent. We turned off the engine and waited for the burly (?) Property Frontiers chaps to hoist the large main sail and get us moving. Then we were off in the glorious sunshine to the Isle of Wight.
It was a fantastic second day for new starter Clare Thirgood, Marketing Executive, pictured with our skipper for the day, Tony, who was a wealth of useful information and sailing advice.
At about 1.30pm we ported the yacht in Cowes marina in before heading for a walk through the pretty town where we found a very nice restaurant for a spot of lunch.
Fed, watered and some in need of sunscreen, we headed on the return leg to the mainland. A lack of wind made it fairly slow going on the way back but no one minded (except the driver who was waiting for us at port) as the team were all enjoying the beautiful views and relaxing.
We arrived back at the marina in Gosport, windswept and sunburnt but still buzzing after a wonderful time. Many of the team had their first sailing experiences and even Kate McCormack, whose best friend that day was her life jacket, was keen to get her sea legs back on!
The superb day concluded with a drive back to HQ in Oxford for dinner, drinks and dancing into the small hours for those who could still keep their eyes open after a very long but enjoyable day.
Thanks again to Tony, our skipper and his crew for looking after us so well and thanks too to every member of the Property Frontiers team for all their hard work and dedication this year.
