Schools out for the summer and yet another student accommodation success story
July 29, 2011Article by Ray Withers
With the 2010/11 academic year drawing to a close it seems only fitting to report that all units at our latest student accommodation project, St Andrew’s, have sold out.
The seventh project we offered clients from our established developer partners in Liverpool proved once again popular mainly due to the prime location, double digit yield – assured in year 1 and the spacious nature of each pod.
Having visited Liverpool and our previous student projects many times I am always reminded that it is the quality of rooms, communal areas as well as the on site amenities which make these properties so appealing both to investors but also student tenants.
And it the increasing number (at present 350,000) of overseas students attending university in the UK, who seek out accommodation of this quality. As reported in The Times today students have developed far higher accommodation expectations and are prepared to pay.
One example is a student tenant called Paula Gómez; orginally from Spain, she is studying in Liverpool and living in Streatlam Tower, one of the previous developments from the same developer as St Andrew’s. She says:
“I came to Liverpool to study English. Since I arrived 4 months ago, each day I am happier living here. The house is well situated near the city center…All rooms are well equipped with everything you need including Internet and TV and on each floor there is a huge kitchen and several bathrooms. Being away from home is hard but the truth is that living here has made ??things much easier.”
