Seasons greetings from all the team at Property Frontiers
December 21, 2012Article by Ray Withers
At the end of another busy but exciting year at Property Frontiers, I thought it might be illuminating to look back at the year’s triumphs, give you a little sneak preview of what’s in store for 2013 and our hints and tips on upcoming investment hotspots.
Well, I’m pleased to say that despite the gloomy economic outlook at the start of the year, 2012 has turned out to be one of our best – proving that there is still money to be made if you’re investing in the right areas.
We launched 17 new projects and conducted nearly 350 transactions. In terms of our 2012 predictions, I’m pleased to say that we were mostly spot on. Where we predicted the UK would show most potential, both high yielding opportunities in hotel and student accommodation investments proved to be very popular with our clients, accounting for nearly 45% of all sales.
In the US, home to two of our investments, prices increased by 3.6% in Q3 2012 compared with Q3 2011, with other renowned investors such as Warren Buffet and JP Morgan echoing our belief in the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity currently available.
With regard to alternative investments, our continued partnership with Ecoplanet Bamboo saw a further plantation sold in Nicaragua and the launch of a new Biomass investment in South Africa. In fact, alternative investments along with student accommodation and hotels accounted for over two thirds of sales. For a full summary of our 2012 achievements click here.
Last but by no means least, 2012 saw another triumph for the team here – the success of our charity, the Frontiers Foundation. As many of you will have seen, Charlotte and I went to Zambia in June to finish drilling a well for the Ngwezi B community, and though further fundraising we have enough funds to complete a new toilet block and three new classrooms for the Ket Wangi orphanage in Kenya – more information can be found here.
Looking ahead to 2013, I’m pleased to see that interest in international property is enjoying a resurgence now that economic forecasts are brightening. We will be getting back to what we know best – pioneering investments, asset classes and territories and bringing rewarding, exciting & substantiated products to market. If there is somewhere or something that you’d like to invest in – just tell us!
