August 11, 2008Article by Ray Withers
Ryanair –
Irish based airline Ryanair spoke out last month about plans to offer fares to the US from as little as $12 (£6.10) plus taxes, in a drastic bid to undercut other transatlantic operators.
With the scheduled launch of the new ‘Open Skies’ programme next March, any airline will be able to traverse the Atlantic flight zone from any EU city to any destination in the US. As a result American flight options will no longer be dominated by such a small quota of expensive airlines.
Low cost airline Zoom are planning to offer daily flights from London to New York from June 21st with prices starting at £129 one-way – savings of up to 70% of fares offered by current market leaders.
