Flight News – Transatlantic Flights From £6

August 11, 2008Article by Ray Withers

Irish based airline Ryanair spoke out last month about plans to offer fares to the US from as little as $12 (£6.10) plus taxes, in a drastic bid to undercut other transatlantic operators.
With the scheduled launch of the new ‘Open Skies’ programme next March, any airline will be able to traverse the Atlantic flight zone from any EU city to any destination in the US. As a result American flight options will no longer be dominated by such a small quota of expensive airlines.
Low cost airline Zoom are planning to offer daily flights from London to New York from June 21st with prices starting at £129 one-way – savings of up to 70% of fares offered by current market leaders.
Ryanair also have plans to fly from East Midlands Airport to Budapest and Riga from October. Prices will be from £0.01 one way excluding taxes and extra charges.

Last month EasyJet announced several new low cost routes.
A new route from Bristol to Warsaw will commence on October 2nd and will depart three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturdays costing from £49.98 return including taxes.
Similarly, there will be new routes from Newcastle and Gatwick to Krakow.
Flights from Newcastle will operate four times a week as of the first April and will cost from £13.99 one-way excluding extra charges.
A daily service between Gatwick and Krakow will begin on October 5th with tickets now on sale from £27.99 return (£49.98 including taxes).
Flights from Bristol to Bordeaux were installed as of the first of April this year and fly thrice weekly with prices from £43.04 return including taxes and costs. From June, flights will be daily.
